Micha, to correct your timeline (which I don't know what it had to do with my comment), Jon first expressed his desire that he wanted to stop the filming in March, 2009 during the last show of that season. At that time he said he wanted to be the "old Jon" that he was before the show started. He negotiated with TLC through the end of September to try and stop the filming and then tried to stop it by claiming they were trespassing Oct 1. It was then, October 1st, that he said the filming was not good for the kids because he and Kate were going through a divorce, their lives were a trainwreck and he didn't want his kids exposed publically by being filmed when that was going on. Whatever he said during the previous summer, I don't know. By then TLC had enough footage from filming through the summer (9 of 23 shows that included Jon). TLC announced and sued Jon on Oct. 16 AFTER Jon had tried to shut down the show by claiming they were trespassing. You've got it as the other way around, that he tried to stop the filming out of spite after they cut him loose. Not so.

You didn't mention whether or not Jon had a contractual agreement with TLC to finish out a certain amount of shows. Do you think that is why he filmed during the summer?

As for the other comments on the previous thread, I don't want to go back and forth to read them there then answer them here. But I remember one question, what is so luxurious about Kate's life. I'd say the spa days, her 3 cars, buying herself expensive jewelry, birthday trip to Mexico, rented condos on the beach, to name but a few. Kate wants her fans to thinks she's a regular mom, which she says often. She doesn't live a regular mom's life. All she has attained is because her children have been and continue to be filmed for a TV show.

I think a lot of people, including yours truly, are stuck on the fact that Kate is wealthy BECAUSE of her kids. They didn't ask for any of that. She cannot carry a show on her own so she continues to put the kids on TV, warts and all. She even forced them to be on a wife swap show.

She simply doesn't have what it takes to carry a show and yes, I agree she may be shy and socially awkward deep down. I wish she could carry her own show. Do 100 Celebrity Apprentices or whatever and rake in the $$$ on her own. The younger kids have been on TV almost since birth. They are scrutinized and speculated about in the media and by perfect strangers and people say very cruel things about them. They don't deserve that.

In my opinion....,

Yes, Francie, quite luxurious for sure, not what most working large families can provide for their children, but then there are a lot of families who don't want their kids feeling entitled to that kind of lifestyle. The argument there could be, they have worked for it, they deserve it. Time will tell.

I feel safe in saying that most wealthy moms have not attained their wealth by putting their children to work starting at the ages of 2-4 years old.

Yes, those kids have never experienced privacy. That alone is an unconscionable thing to do to one's children.

PJ,

Why is it that anyone needs to worry what Kate and her kids are doing? Jon bailed on his family, Kate was left to support all of them on her own. Many kids have been on TV for years, some come out good, others bad. Not all kids have huge problems just because people in the public want them to fail so others can say I told you so. Nursing would not support 8 kids, babysitting bills would have taken it all plus more. No cs from Jon for several years now, so would people complain if Kate was on welfare? Jon was all for filming when he jump the gravy train too, all because he wanted to re-live his twenty's. He wanted to bar crawl, he left his family with the only thing at that moment that Kate could do to support them. Jon was behind in cs and paying his taxes when he signed off the kids, so Kate didn't receive that part also. I can't even imagine what the medical, school, clothes and food would run a family of 9 now. This is just a small fraction of the daily expenses.

2 specials a year is not constant filming of their lives, and I doubt 2-4 years olds will remember much of any of it. I would have been scared to death left with 8 kids at the age they were, nothing set in the workforce with either of them. I do think when the 6 are older, Kate will work somewhere, but I feel where she lives is her downfall. Opinion only here.

Amen Sage, that is all.

Not So,

Well, Kate is doing it, it's her and the kids life whether people agree or not. Now to get every kid of TV and movies could become a full job for someone. Never would happen, too many products to sell everyone. I see kids on every station, those ads are run for days and days, and old movies with kids are repeated year after year. Kids are everywhere these days, it has become a very good business for kids to make huge sums of money for their later years. Many child stars went on to be successful business people. Some failed, but other people's kids have failed that were never in the spotlight.

I myself am more worried about kids that are neglected, need nourishment, and don't have winter gear with the cold season coming up. Food banks are short, donations are down to purchase products. School budgets are struggling, elderly are having to choose between eating and buying meds. I am thankful that any single parent or any household can provide for their children.

Who honestly cares about Kate any more? Imean, really? *yawn*

Its the BL that needs to have a come to Jesus moment. She's a nasty, sick, obsessed lady with a keen interest in teens having sex. SICK.

Very well said, Farkle.

When the show was J&K+8, I felt the show was invasive. I agreed that the kids didn't ask for any of it. But, then I compared it to other mediums, such as autobiographies, documentaries, articles, tv interviews, etc. and realized people tell their life story (including ingimate details about their family and children) all the time.

I think the kids have a lot of privacy. Even when the kids were smaller, there was a lot of stuff we didn't know. The show was off the air a couple of years and now they just film specials. Now, we know even less. We just get tidbits of their lives.

I also think Kate was looking for away to support her family. I don't think she is a fame-monger. She's not one looking for idolation from her fans. She could give many more interviews. Jon's made that apparent, he gives more interviews than she does.

Farkle, yes, absolutely there are kids who have been on TV longer but they are actors. These poor kids have been filmed having tantrums, being bathed and potty trained, looking defeated and tired, being punished, now as they are older, being snotty and hitting/spitting on each other. To me, it's just too long. And I don't worry about what Kate and the kids are doing. Kate puts it out there or they wouldn't be on anyone's radar.

Again, just a differing opinion, that's all. I actually work at a food bank and with homeless youth and at the blood center, so I do have my mind (and hands) on much more pressing things for sure.

Have a good day, everyone.

Just a reminder for any who think that the Gosselin kids have not lost their privacy, it's Kate who said that she can't even take her kids to the movies because chaos erupts.

I thought of something else, before I take off. I don't think everything she does is evil. I think the speculation about her is dumb too. People decided she stopped tweeting about Chipotle because she ran through all the many, many gift cards they gave her (for example). There was NEVER a shred of evidence that she was given anything. Maybe they did and maybe they didn't. People actually tweeted Chipotle to tell them not to give the grifter stuff. WHY? I LOVE Chipotle and if there was one nearby, I'd be there at least once a week and I have never been given a thing! Same with Jimmy John's, until I found out the owner does big game trophy hunting overseas. That one really made me laugh.

Anyway! Ciao for now.

Oh, and one more thing and then I'm on my way. To the person who said they think the Hoffman book about Kate is fabrication, perhaps you're not aware than when the first edition of the book came out, Hoffman sent a copy to Kate's lawyers, Lavely and Singer. They informed Hoffman that there were copies of contracts in that book that needed to be removed. That was their only complaint--not a mention of libel, and you'd think that would be the first thing they'd jump on. Also when Kate unsuccessfully sued Jon and Hoffman, it was for computer hacking, not a word about libel. If you want to continue to believe Hoffman made up all those diary entries it's your choice, of course, but don't you think it's curious that two of the most cut-throat entertainment attorneys and Kate, herself, would have gone after him for that?

To "Not So"

Whatever Jon may have said in March of 2009, he still continued filming, he still was positive about doing the show when talking to the press, he still claimed that the show was great for the kids right up to the point that TLC decided that they didn't want HIM anymore, and then and only then did he shut the show down. Apparently Jon or Kate always had the power to just quit filming if one of them didn't want to film. It didn't have to be both of them in agreement. If Jon wanted the show to stop in March, he didn't need Kate's approval to do so. If he wanted the show to stop in June, he didn't need Kate's approval to do so. July, same. August, same. September, same. Yet he only stopped once TLC wanted him out and he only had words of praise for the show and for the kids doing show prior to TLC wanting him out. Can anyone really draw any other conclusion but that Jon continued with the show at that time because HE wanted to? Even if he was allegedly scared of "Kate's wrath" in March, he certainly wasn't scared of "Kate's wrath" while he was parading Hailey Glassman around NY and jetting off to France with her and the Tom Hardy guy for the weekend for all the world to see. He came back from France and continued filming the show with the kids. That definitely doesn't sound like a man who wanted to quit in June, July etc. If he wanted to stop the show he could have long before the show decided they'd had enough of him.

About this:

"TLC announced and sued Jon on Oct. 16 AFTER Jon had tried to shut down the show by claiming they were trespassing. You've got it as the other way around, that he tried to stop the filming out of spite after they cut him loose. Not so."

Chain of events was TLC announced they were changing the name of the show to "Kate Plus 8" and Jon was out, Jon said he was stopping filming and put up that sign telling TLC to stay off his property, and then TLC sued. The name change was what started Jon down his "the show is bad for the kids" path, after filming with them all summer (while the divorce was in progress) and telling the press that the show was fine for the kids and everybody loved filming.

I wonder do "Jon fans" think that when Jon praised the show in June and July and August while going through the divorce, that he was not telling his truth, he was betraying his own "ethics" and "morality" when all along he felt the show was bad for his kiddos? I guess it's better to just think Jon was weak and spineless at that time (when he was praising the show and doing the show) than to think that Jon was an opportunist or a hypocrite who only did what was in his best interests and seemingly used the "in the kids' best interests" line to shut the show down. Yet he said the show was great for the kids and they loved doing it while he was filming it that summer.

It's such a contradiction, isn't it? July, August - show is great for the kids and we all love doing it. October, show is bad for the kids and we must stop doing it.

Not So said...

And Sage, again thank you for allowing me to post my opinions. It's been refreshing after experiencing the ego-based blog I posted on at one time.

P.S. Micha, your wrong about several things. One of them being that Jon and Kate could stop filming if they wanted to. They signed CONTRACTS (it was talked about on at least one of the episodes-how they didn't even get an attorney to look them over). Do you think an entity like TLC would invest all that time and money into a show that could have been stopped if one of it's main characters decided to quit? That's what TLC sued Jon about on Oct. 16--Breach of Contract. Jon continued to film because he was under CONTRACT, not because he loved doing it. He tried to stop the filming after he'd tried negotiating with TLC through the summer. When he tried to stop the filming Oct. 1, TLC THEN retaliated by suing him for Breach of Contract on Oct. 16. It has been said that after the lawsuit was issued, AFTER Jon tried to stop the filming, there was enough footage of Jon, from the summer filming (when he was fulfilling his contractual obligations) that they could continue the show as Jon&Kate+8 for several months while they (TLC) worked out the details to make it Kate+8.

Love seeing differing opinions being expressed and discussed with respect. awesome!

I've got a lot of problems with Kate's behavior, going wayyyyy back.
What parents, who are struggling to pay bills with twin babies, decides to have another child? It's my opinion (just me speculating) that Kate was initially attracted to Jon because he was a doctor's son. Simple as that. I think she wanted to marry him because she thought his family would provide financial security for her. Unfortunately for her, (and this is beyond my comprehension), Jon didn't pursue higher education. She married Jon, they financially struggled, if I am correct his dad purchased their first home??
My point being, yes, having lots of kids is great, but you have to be able to PROVIDE once they are born--and clearly Jon and Kate were not financially capable of supporting a 3rd child, much less SIX more.
I also believe Kate actively pursued every freebie known to mommyhood-and that's backed up by their old website begging for carseats, gift cards, even a VAN (who does that??)
Anyway, she sends a tape to Discovery. Discovery bites. Yes, I can see how a special might have given them a financial boost to get them on their feet, but I don't agree with their decision to make their kids work--and no, it's not running in and out in front of the cameras. There are too many kids that say being on a tv show is WORK (latest example is the Roloff kiddo).
And the situations these kids were filmed defies decency and common sense. Showing potty seats, bare bottomed children, etc, is not entertainment fodder. And yes, there are child actors, but they are ACTING. The G kids aren't acting, they are portraying themselves. There are websites dedicated to hating on one of the kids specifically--and I think that's reason enough to pull the plug on a tv show.
And yes, I believe the journal is Kate's words. Seems like Robert posted a screenshot of the atty's letters indicating what Kate wanted copyrighted. And no, I don't believe Jon gave Robert the computer (again, my opinion).
Kate could support these kids on a nurse's salary if she wanted to, but she chooses to make her kids work to support their and her, lifestyle. Those kids don't need an estate, nor private schooling. Kate doesn't need 3 cars.
And her good bra? oh please. I don't care if she got the girls upgraded, but it's the lying that bothers me, especially since she was such a 'faith based' person before the money started rolling in.
Geez, I could write a zillion word post about my thoughts!
There's just too many moments on camera that show me she's a poor parent; a poor daughter, ex wife, etc...
And Jon? I don't think he's that great either! Regardless of what Kate (and the kids) bank from TLC, he's working, therefore he should be paying something for child support. Even a token amt matters.
He's lived with what, 5 ladies in 6 years?? ridiculous, and a terrible model for his children. (but, I also believe Kate told him the marriage was over way before he was photographed with coeds. He also wanted to go to marriage counseling and Kate refused). And from what Robert's book implied, the marriage was over before they did the vow renewal--who does that to their kids? how cruel. :(

Please don't skewer me! thanks for letting me voice my opinion!

LOL LOL, sure Robert sent a copy of the book to Kate's attorneys. That is such a fabrication. RH's book was taken down from Amazon almost as soon as it went on sale.

Of course, TLC sued Jon. He was under contract and causing problems. Jon wanted to be on his own show about divorced dads.

Yes, I do think TLC would give this family an out because this wasn't just some show, this was a reality show featuring a family with young kids, not a scripted show with "main characters." Circumstances could change quickly and any wise parent in this situation would have an opt-out clause in a contract.

From Not So...

"Jon continued to film because he was under CONTRACT, not because he loved doing it."

Since you seem to know why Jon did things, maybe you'd like to explain why Jon said he loved filming. Did he say that because he was also "under contract?" Did that contract force or obligate Jon to say things he didn't mean about him filming or about the kids filming? It doesn't seem likely. Jon said what he felt when he thought he had the world on a string. Jon behaved like a very happy camper when it came to filming post divorce announcement right up until the time TLC decided to take his name out of the title and attempt to reduce his appearances. Then he shut filming down with the "excuse" that it wasn't good for the kids, and he was sued.

If you'd like to dispute that, go ahead. It's not going to change what happened, and it's not going to change what is happening now - namely that new Kate Plus 8 episodes have been filmed and are going to be airing sooner rather than later. Whatever Jon claims he wanted in June of 2009 and how what he wanted suddenly changed in October of 2009 or whatever Jon claims he wants on this day, Kate Plus 8 continues to film and continues to air on TLC. Strange that a father has no say in what his kids do, if Jon is in fact against the kids being on reality TV today and in the future.

lollipop said...

Seems like the last episode of Jon and Kate filming together,Jon said he didn't want to film any longer. Kate looked at the camera, motioned 'irong', and said 'we've got some ironing to do. I like filming, he doesn't".
I think at that point he was done with the marriage-in-name-only, done with being treated as a nanny (Kate was spending wayyyy too much time with Steve). He wanted to go to marriage counseling, Kate did not.
Kate filed for divorce, not Jon.
As far as the freebies, yes, both she and Jon had a begging website. But it's clear who wore the financial pants in that marriage, I think Jon went along with Kate wanted most of the time to simply keep the peace. When they were on Oprah, Oprah says something about 'is there ever enough money'..Kate responds 'there's never enough'..the look on Jon's face was very telling--they were rolling in dough and Kate was lying.
There's a lot of reference in her journal concerning her asking for freebies--clothes, gift cards, clothing, shoes, etc. The list is endless.
In her journal, she's quoted as asking how they are going to explain (to the viewers) about their $1 million dollar house purchase. It's a fact that they were still defrauding church goers (by asking for love donations) while signing mortgage papers. Who does that?? There's no way I could ask for donations to support my family while purchasing a house like that. The TLC money was flowing like water at that time, it's disgraceful.
There's just too many people Kate has thrown by the wayside in her quest to fame and fortune...her family, church, friends, Jon. When Jon and Kate first started filming the show, a neighbor of theirs started a blog about how Jon and Kate treated their neighbors.
There's just too many people that have unkind things to say about Kate that it can be dismissed.
But again, as much as I disagree about how she's used her children to fund her 'spa days', her 3 cars, her cosmetic surgery, Jon does not get a pass either. He enjoyed the money for a while, too--moving to NYC, expansive $ wardrobe, fancy car (which he didn't keep long, guess due to diminishing $$).
But dang, why in the world does Kate need an Audi?? Why does she need 3 cars?? I think she wanted the Audi because she can't get away from wanting what Beth had. (I don't know why, she certainly threw Beth to the curb after she tried to have her name removed from the book she wrote). I just can't imagine dismissing Beth after what Beth did for Kate all those years...she helped the first year of the babies' care, helped with the twin's private school tuition, treated her to her first spa day, etc (I'm sure there are other examples). Instead of being grateful, Kate wants to cut Beth's book proceeds from 1/2 to 1/3--saying Jon was also an author, when he clearly wasn't.
Sorry again for the rambling, there's just so many instances!
It's nice to be able to post on a site that has differing viewpoints that can be rationally discussed.

Arabella said...

My eyes start to cross when I read comments asking why Kate "needs" certain extras things. This is America. If Kate Gosselin wants 3 cars and can afford them why shouldn't she have them? We all have extra things we don't need. Comments like that are why I think some naysayers are jealous.

Sage said...

What I find amusing is that everything is Kate's fault and Jon was just along for the ride.

lollipop...you make assumptions. We do not know what happened between Kate and Beth. How do know that it was Kate that wanted Jon's name on the book? Maybe it was Jon.

My eyes start to cross to, Arabella. There is so much hate for Kate that has been allowed to manifest on blogs that do not allow a response that assumptions, rumors and lies have become their truth.

Arabella said...

Every excuse is made for Jon. Kate? There's no excuse for her. She's just evil and somehow was able to manipulate every person and company she came in contact with to do her bidding.

Not So said...

I make no excuses for Jon. I've said right here on this blog that Jon acted like an ass after the divorce and I don't like the number of girlfriends he's gone through.

And I'm in no way jealous of Kate. I don't live in a huge house with 7 bathrooms, but I own my home, free and clear, own my care free and clear, have family and friends that I visit and who visit me. I have a social life. What's to be jealous of? I think people say that because they're defense of Kate is weak.

And Lollypop, you're right. There was a blpg called "Learning my lines" written by a minister, and one entry was about Jon and Kate and how she treated her neighbors which was not neighborly at all. Jon was outgoing, friendly, laid back, and Kate was just the opposite. Kate is a harsh, unfriendly narcissistic, controlling person and it shows. She's truly unlikable.

Arabella said...

Not so, I agree with you that Jon comes across as outgoing, friendly and laid back. Watching the show I liked him so much more than I did Kate. But I don't agree that Kate is harsh, unfriendly or narcissistic and controlling. To me she seemed like an introvert out of her comfort zone. My mom and my husband are both that way and in certain situations are not likable at all! Lol.

merryway said...

Lol, who cares if Kate bought a used Audi back in 2011? I don't think that would get her on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. That's not extravagant celebrity living. Who would want to drive that BBB everywhere? Blech.

Not So said...

Arabella, Kate yelled in one episode, where some plumber guy came out about water softener, "I'm in control and that's never going to change." Although it was an emotional outburst that some may not take seriously, I think she's very much that way. Why did she insist on another damn circus-themed party for the 6 when they didn't want it? She said during that episode that if she pushes for what she wants long enough everyone comes around. Why? Don't others, especially for their birthday, get what they want? "Just one more baby" comes to mind. She whined and laid on the couch sobbing (her words) and moaned and groaned (in front of the poor little twins who got very upset) until Jon relented. She's controlling and manipulative. Do you think the twins wanted to go on the Today show and talk about their family?? Didn't look like it, but Kate's in control and that's never going to change.

Shy and introverted? Did you see the Entertainment Tonight show when Kate got her one and only chance to interview someone and she grabbed the mic from the guest and said, "Some day I'll OWN this mic?" No wonder she never did another interview.

Not So said...

And by the way, while I'm thinking about it, Kate admitted publicly, after her show was cancelled that she'd been very difficult to work with.

Arabella said...

I just don't see it as control. She makes decisions for her kids that they may not agree with. She's the mom. It happens. I push for what I want and I am definitely not a control freak. As for the twins, I don't know them to know what they want.

Kate has her issues. I just don't think she's done anything to deserve the criticism she gets. I would love to know what's true and factual in that journal. I do think it's hers. I do think Jon helped Hoffman get it. I don't think what was published was exactly as it was written. If she beat - not just spanked - her kids, Jon would have to have known and he has allowed the kids to spend most of their time with her. If there were abuse I would hope he would have shouted it from the rooftops to keep the kids from her. But he didn't so I don't think it's true.

Judy, with all due respect, the girls love their dad too. I was raised by a mother who constantly denigrated my father in front of us and gleefully encouraged our large, extended family to do the same. Despite his many faults (as if her abusive self had none), we loved him and it was very confusing and hurtful to us. In middle age, I recognize that she was trying to plant the seed that he didn't love US because he left her and didn't pay enough child support. I have no respect for these journalists who are asking such private questions of two kids. I'm all for 'who's your favorite band?' but not 'so do you see your dad?' In my opinion, it's intrusive. Are they going to ask the child of that real housewife, 'So how do you feel about your dad killing himself?' Or that other housewife (sorry, I don't know who is who), 'So what's it like going to see your mom in prison, and knowing you'll be visiting your dad there soon, and then he'll be deported?'

As an adult, I went through a long period of anger toward both my parents, wondering why our mom treated us the way she did and our dad didn't protect us. I don't know what's going on in their lives or in their little hearts (none of us do), but some of them may have things to come to terms with as adults, hopefully in a healthy way.

I don't like Jon or Kate, but it goes both ways. They love both their parents, despite any confusion or angst they may feel toward either of them.

Yes, it is frustrating when people insist on saying things over and over than are not correct. I know how you feel.

Sage, I went to a big school in a small town. The school was so crowded that they double shifted us in 10th grade and the next year they opened another school. We still had over 600 people in our class. Over 100 of them are gone. Most of the people in our class still live in the same area, but I don't, so I only see most of them every 10 years or so! My two best friends still live there and I see them all the time. We've had a website set up all summer and the emails have been flying. Looks like about 200 people will be there. The elementary, junior high and high school were all located in the same area, so we went through school with the same kids. I did notice at the 40th that the elementary school kids seemed to gravitate towards each other.

You know what's funny that even when there is absolute proof of the crazy shit Jon does his fans still deny it.Jon was masturbating on TV,it was there for everyone to see but to the people who defend him it's not true.Kate on the other hand is absolutely guilty of any suggestion of wrong doing when most of the time there is not a shred of proof to back it up.For the life of me I do not understand why it is so important to some of you that Kate must be hated by everybody, that is not going to happen. Some of us simply do not care if she has three cars and gets pedicures!

I know, Mimi, I don't understand the constant complaints of how many cars Kate has or if she goes to the spa. Who cares? Why is that so important?

I so agree...Jon's escapes on that show were brain rot worthy. How totally mortifying for the kids.

PJ's momma said...

Yes, Jon looked like an absolute douche nozzle on that show. He never should have spoken about Kate the way he did. Terrible for the kids....

And in some interview recently, they asked if he'd do Celebrity Apprentice and he was giddy in offering himself up for it. Give me a break.

I don't care if people like or don't like Kate, or Jon either for that matter. They are just not my cup of tea, which doesn't affect their lives one bit.

lollipop said...

I know, Mimi, I don't understand the constant complaints of how many cars Kate has or if she goes to the spa. Who cares? Why is that so important?
---

I think it's important. Watching "R" from the beginning, Kate was clearly a control freak who expected her army of volunteers to do the lion's share of the childcare. She did not step up to the plate in caring for her own children. Her main focus all those years was getting out clothing stains and cooking dinner-everyone else did the rest of the work.
When you have a large family of 8 kids (and 6 being the same age--they will hit the 'big' expenses all at the same time-- braces (although the boys haven't had that pleasure yet), cars, car insurance, college, etc), EVERY penny extra needs to be saved for the future--no one's future is certain, and having that many kids, parents need to be very vigilant with every spare penny. Many people in 'the biz' have said reality tv is not a career, so make bank while you can (although I don't agree with her making the kids work to provide her with a lavish lifestyle).
She bought a used Audi. Might not be a luxury to some, but a reality tv star with only 1 income source, providing solely for 8 kids, an Audi is definitely a luxury..and she traded 1 in for another. She also bought a brand new SUV (can't recall the name of that one, but it's got a hefty price tag).
Same with her spa days, she treats herself once a month. I see that as a luxury as well. She keeps professing to be a regular mom, and we all know she's not.

I recall her stating she had a purse full of bills she couldn't pay..that was a flat out lie, Jon said she had almost a dozen accounts with plenty of money. I don't recall her winning the lottery after Jon pulled the plug on the show, and I hardly doubt she made enough bank afterwards to justify buying sports cars. (remember 1 of her money-saving tips was to put in a pool??) that's laughable for a typical struggling single mom doing it alone.
So yes, buying sports cars and treating yourself to personal pampering days bothers me...every penny extra should be put away for the kiddos. Kate is too wrapped up in material stuff--I think she wanted what Beth had.
(Kate also demeaned 99.9% of the working world when she said she wanted better than mediocre for her kids--they deserved everything on a golden platter, or some nonsense like that.

I did not watch Jon on Couples Therapy. I've heard scathing things of what he said. Seems like he said he wanted her to die, or something like that. That was a TERRIBLE thing to say (but wasn't in reference to Kate not letting him avail himself of his phone call with the kids?)
But, Kate has said more harmful things about Jon in the media. Tit for Tat is their game--and the kids lose.

I do not have a problem with Kate trying to earn money on tv on her own. She did DWTS and CA. Good for her (although both appearances showed how little she 'works'). So whatever she wants to do, I say go for it. Same for Jon. Just leave the kids out of it.
Another thought: when she and the twins appeared on the morning show, I believe Kate was vying for a show for the twins 'Growing up Gosselin'. Instead it was a hot mess, the twins wouldn't talk, Kate's clapping her hands at them telling them to 'spit it out'. It was cringeworthy. The twins did a turnaround for the next interview, perhaps she 'happied' them up. I don't know, but it was painful to watch.
Kate, if you want to be on tv (which you do), I say go for it. Leave the kids out of it. They have worked all their lives. enough is enough.

Sage said...

Another quote taken from Kate out of context and repeated over and over..."I recall her stating she had a purse full of bills she couldn't pay"..that was a flat out lie, Jon said she had almost a dozen accounts with plenty of money.
/////////////////////

At the time Kate stated this Jon had just emptied their account. So it is considered a 'flat out lie' because Jon said she a 'dozen' accounts. What makes you think Jon isn't the one lying?

"When you have a large family of 8 kids (and 6 being the same age--they will hit the 'big' expenses all at the same time-- braces (although the boys haven't had that pleasure yet), cars, car insurance, college, etc), EVERY penny extra needs to be saved for the future-"

Yet Jon contributes nothing and is given a pass.

"I did not watch Jon on Couples Therapy. I've heard scathing things of what he said. Seems like he said he wanted her to die, or something like that. That was a TERRIBLE thing to say (but wasn't in reference to Kate not letting him avail himself of his phone call with the kids?)"

The quote was he wanted Kate to 'fucking die' because he couldn't talk to the kids on camera over the phone on a trashy tv show that he just masturbated for the cameras and his girlfriend at the time,Liz, called Kate a bitch...wow mean mom!!

Not So, you wrote that you didn't watch the show...I did. Jon and Liz were trash..even for that show.. from the time they arrived. How embarrassing for the kids to have their dad behaving and talking that way about their mother.

PJ's momma said...

Actually, Jon said 'F off and die', which is a vulgar phrase, kind of like 'go eat sh*t' or 'go F yourself'. Not that someone who says it hopes someone will die or actually eat poo, it's just a vulgar and common phrase. But he should not have said it at all where the cameras would capture it. And Liz should not have done name-calling either. The kids had to see her after that was aired. The whole thing was a cluster f&ck. See? Another dumb phrase!

I think that show is fascinating because it shows how broken people react to things. Dr. Jenn really gets to the heart of the matter without pussy-footing around and helps them understand. She even tells people when they shouldn't be together. When the porn star Jenna Jameson was forced to finally deal with her mother's death, and also being gang raped (both things happened when she was a teen), she broke wide open in a very profound way, and hopefully she found some healing. I just got tears in my eyes, thinking of her seeing her mother's grave for the first time ever. There was also a hip hop star who had been rejected by his father, and he had so much anger that his wife wanted to leave. You can almost see a light bulb go on over their heads in those moments.

Lollipop said...

No one with a lot of cash keeps it all in 1 account- very foolish. Yes, I believe Kate had multiple financial accounts that Jon was denied access. Kate's too much if a control freak, her behavior is a testimony to that. I absolutely do not give Jon a free pass concerning child support- he should be paying it determined by scale and income level-- totally agree with you there! :)
Since he does not Kate should live as frugally as possible! That's what a parent does- their first priority should be supporting and providing for the kids--buying sports cars doesn't say 'kids first' to me. It was a vanity purchase, nothing more.

If Jon said those horrible things about Kate, then shame on him!! But she's said plenty of mean things about him. She also lets her twitter followers talk horribly about him on her feed snd she lets it stand- same thing as agreeing with it.

Thank you again for a respectful dialogue! Enjoying differing points of views.

How we love to rehash the Gosselin trainwreck, as Jon so aptly called it. He sure was right about that. The bank account fiasco was interesting. Jon took out what he said was his share of the earnings. Must have been scary having TLC up his *ss with all their high-priced lawyers and Kate in charge of all the bank accounts. There were eleven at the time. Kate took out money, too, don't forget. Didn't a judge make them both return the money? Kate's "purse full of bills" was high drama--can you imagine taking that kind of thing to a national talk show? She was desperate for sympathy. They were both nutty at the time, Jon being courted by the likes of Michael Lohan and every other blood sucking opportunist out there, Kate doing her "I'm too sexy for my shirt" routine dying to show off those new boobies. Lordy, and those poor kids.

Liz was trashy in my opinion. Jon's choice in women has always been questionable, and that includes Kate. I think he's naive and immature and wants very much to have a woman in his life. Too bad he doesn't look before he leaps. He never has and I don't know if that will ever change. During the years that most young adults are maturing he was raising 8 kids. Same with Kate, she's stuck in the teenage years as well.

I can not believe that anyone can say anything about Kate's twitter.Have you not seen the hags that stalk her and her fans and say every despicable thing under the sun about Kate, not to mention the fact that they swarm in as a group and attack anyone that dares to say a positive word about Kate.Jon talks with this same people on twitter and I have yet to see him defend Kate in any way,in fact he is very friendly with these people when he is well aware of their constant harrassement of Kate.

Twitter is full of people who have a lot of rage and also seem to have a lot of time on their hands. I think every celebrity on Twitter is the target of hateful comments, and a lot of them mention the "abuse" they get from people on Twitter. It feels like I'm always hearing about one celeb or another complaining about how abusive tweets to them can get. I think Kate mostly ignores/blocks them. After all these years the abuse towards her seems to have remained the same, and Kate still goes on and does her thing, lives her life, raises her kids. She knows that no matter what she says someone is going to throw hate at her for it, especially if she tweets to a company about a product, but she still does it. That alone shows how she regards the opinions of those angry people.

It's not fair, but that's life.

That is why Kate is the much better parent. Kate stayed and did not go in search of her twenties like Jon did.

The house and school has nothing to do about appearance.....

PJ's momma said...

I wonder if Kate ever regretted getting a house on all that land. We have only one acre and it's a lot to take care of, even though we someone else to do a lot of it, after doing it all for about 15 years. Something always needs work or pruning or mowing or fertilizing or fixing. If you don't keep up with it, it gets out of hand very quickly. Yuck!

Sage said...

At the time they bought the house they were still married and probably that didn't enter into her mind as to how much maintenance it would take. I do think it is best not to have neighbors too close like the nosy one who wrote about them.

Farkle said...

If I remember the 11 accounts Kate had, 9 of those belonged to the children. Jon went on TV claiming he was going to take control of all the money. I think he was living in his 20's when he said this.

Kate's twitter non fans, about 5 of them have talked about her daily for years. Guess their lives are boring and Kate fills their free time. It's nice when you can own someone without having to do anything. Same with the BL, what is she going to do when the kids grow up and leave home, blog about when the kids were babies. What a joke, and she has followers! LOL.

Where Kate lives, most of that property is pasture, not much upkeep for that. You can spray for weeds, no mowing needed. The house is not huge, I think it looks big from the pictures because of the long driveway and mature trees. Sending kids to private school is not uncommon today, many parents do it.

Sage said...

I sent my kids to private school too....it isn't that uncommon. And should I admit this LOL...I have been getting manicures for 25 years. It's not that expensive.

PJ's momma said...

Farkle, not to be argumentative, but land is time consuming. Even with weed killer thrown down, it must be mowed a lot. And she'd have to be careful because of Shoka - no casaron. Mowing our lone acre with a tractor would take about an hour, stopping to empty the canisters constantly. I can't imagine mowing dozens of acres. And you have to keep it low or a mower won't get through it. Add in weed trimmer time around buildings/fences/plant beds, and weeding of those beds, and it is a lot a lot a lot of work. Taking care of leaves in fall, then mulching the nice areas for winter and again in spring.....ugh. I know what we pay per month for one acre. It would be a big burden for 20-something, whether you did it yourself or paid.

And the house is 6200 square feet. That is a gigantic house. Google aerial shots and you can see it is a massive home, especially considering that the garage is detached. I saw Kate's home when I was in her area and it is very big. Maybe the rooms inside are small or weirdly laid out, but 6200 is a big house. We have 2800 square feet and it's too big for us and is less than half the size of the G house. They need the space but we don't. Hindsight is 20/20 on these things that seem like good ideas at the time! Every house around here has at least an acre and you hear those mowers/weed whackers going all hours of the day and evening in summer. It's funny now that I think about it!

Farkle said...

PJ,

I don't consider that big, 9 people live there. I know all about land and what it takes to keep it up. So people mow and weep whip, that's what you do when you maintain a home with land around it. Kate does not have close neighbors so I doubt a mowing service would bother any one. In the long run, it might be cheaper for Kate to have a mower service, maintaining the equipment, gas, time, and kids around, it would be safer.

There are three floors in Kate's house and when you think of bathrooms and closet space for 9 people, it's not big. Also attached garages make property's look big. If Kate can afford to live where she does, good for her and the kids.

I thought a farmer rented her pasture area so Kate would have no upkeep on that. I guess if she lived in a smaller home with just a small backyard, people would be happy. I don't look for Kate to retire there once her kids are raised, but who knows, she may live there forever.

Tsk Tsk Sage! Private school and Pedi's!! LOL!

PJ's momma said...

Oh no, we are not bothered by yard maintenance noise....we are all amused that we have to mow every 5 days or so if there is a lot of rain!

I agree that they need a lot of room. But I still think it is a big house. And didn't they increase footage by converting some basement space for the boys? I sure wouldn't want to take care of all that! It is a huge responsibility.

I think the kids are better in private school. Public school might eat them alive.

My point is that she has a lot on her plate. A lot of yard, a lot of house, a lot of kids, a whole lot of responsibility. Ours seem tiny compared to hers (yes, I was comparing our small responsibilities to her big ones) and in some ways I feel bad for her. That is all.

No, no, no! I don't get them used! That would be gross! The ones I get are brand new, never been used out of Central Supply. I have connections. I get the basins, washcloths, brand new in plastic bag, never opened. Tooth paste, toothbrushes, combs, the water cups, good for putting candy in them.

I'm no fan either, but I imagine it's just a matter of giving redbird old stock when new stock is being rotated in, or something benign like that. Imagine the massive amount of supplies one facility must go through each year. There may be a few old packets that didn't get used and new packets with different items or from a different vendor were being stocked, and the old, unused ones were given away. Or a salesperson came and left samples that were not put in rotation and those were given.

I watched that show a few times and the only one who seemed happy was Cody and the latest wife. One (the only one who worked) seemed just done with the whole thing and the others were vying for attention. Cody seems like a megalomaniac and gives the most attention to himself. I don't understand the lifestyle either.

It was a shame they left Utah. Their family life seemed better before Kody married Robin. I also think Meri has seemed depressed. After the move, none of the wives seemed happy. Well, Robin seemed happy.

I could care less if Redbird uses pilfered supplies (I'm not saying they are). I can't stand the internet police, just waiting to jump on someone. The lady is bedridden and has some issues. Good grief, who would want to take away what little pleasure she has working on something for a charity?

Pretty sure, the facility she is in has this major issue under control. (snark)

I just realized our DVR is almost full. It re-recorded the season of Couples Therapy with Jon and Liz. I was deleting episodes until I saw the description where Jon 'makes a promise' to Liz. I fast forwarded to where he gives her the promise ring (like high school kids??). First the pizza comes and he says he has a gift before they eat. They cut to her and she's holding the box while he talks. Then they cut to him and he pulls the box out of his pocket - the box she was just holding. They both talk and it cuts to Liz and she's got a big sandwich and chips in front of her, instead of the pizza and salad that were there.

So much for reality!!! Good for a laugh though!

anoun,

Please pick a name, thanks!

Go read about the Duggers at Inquisitr----looks like Jill and Derick have a great scam going.

As far as Roberts book, he needs serious mental health therapy. Trying to make a living off of stalking a family is just scary. I worry more about what his kids lives have endured. Shhhhhh, wouldn't want that to come out, would we? Old old news and flopped book, no public interviews anywhere, yet he loves Kate's garbage, maybe the wrapping paper is still be used. LOL. imo

merryway said...

RH's book has been talked to death. He's a creepy taunting stalker. If one is concerned, one doesn't wait years to bring it to the public that Kate supposedly spanked her kids hard. Jon certainly never acted concerned. I guess he just handed over his legal custody to an abuser of children. LOL.

merryway said...

Today is the twin's birthday. Jon wished them a happy birthday via public media. US felt it was a story worthy.

He will be praised or ignored at BL's. They will spend their time wondering what Kate is up to her and trashing her for their imaginings.

But......if they don't have social media, how would they even see it?

Micha said...

If that Hoff book and those journals revealed anything more than a frustrated young mother who was over her head and worried about her own parenting, then the media would have crucified Kate over it long ago. That didn't happen because people in the media saw in those journals the same thing that all the non haters saw - a mother of 8 little kids who had a lot to deal with, and was worried about how she was dealing with it.

Too bad the haters are so intent on seeing only what they want to see in those journals, (too bad for the haters) but at least there's one thing that can't be denied, and that is that the haters don't really make the world go round - it's still the rational and reasonable people who "rule," and THAT is why Kate still has her Kate Plus 8 specials on TLC, and etc. No matter what conclusions haters want people to draw based on those journals, the non haters see the REALITY of what those journals are saying.

PJ's momma said...

So Jon using social media to wish the girls a happy birthday is A-OK. So is posting links to it.

But where is Kate with her tweets doing the same thing? Where oh where can she be???

Filming, getting plastic surgery, has a gag order.

If she does tweet, it'll be because she's (____fill in the blank____) and it will NOT be OK.

BIG double standard.

merryway said...

Lol, I was suprised to see a comment about "gag order." That is such an old wish of theirs.

I wouldn't be surprised if the older girls have social media. I would kind of expect Kate to lie about it. But, yeah I didn't see any questions asking "why it's necessary for Jon to publicly wish his kids a happy birthday." It's pretty much been ignored.

PJ's momma said...

merryway, silly wabbit, you are not going to see that question! Anyone who would have asked it is already gone or unwilling to get their hand slapped.

I think the kids have social media too. Oh well. It is what it is. I hope the girls did have a happy birthday, just as I would hope for kids everywhere.

Francie said...

People will post here that we have the same hate as that other blog, just directed at a different person. The BIG difference between the two blogs is that the other one will make disparaging remarks about the children. That is just wrong!

Quiltart said...

Francie, IMO, the biggest difference is that the other blog will do whatever they can to keep Kate from getting endorsements, jobs or ANYTHING. Their goal is to destroy her. We don't particularly care for Jon's track record, but I will bet money that none of us have to tried to block any kind of employment he has ever had or tried to destroy his life.

Francie said...

That's right, Quiltart. There's a big difference between not liking someone and trying to destroy them.

PJ's momma said...

^^^ See, that right there (Quiltart/Francie) is why I am not as sympathetic to a certain someone as some of you have expressed.

Every article, every website, every hint or rumor of grifting, and every company is bombarded with comments, email or tweets, which is then reported back publicly - while praising God's goodness the rest of the time.

You are more generous than I can be with that situation.

US Magazine picked up Jon's birthday tweet. Maybe that's why Kate tweeted and of course made sure to mention that her tweet didn't include a photo. She really does still hate him.

Farkle said...

I always wanted Jon to do well, many of my posts supported him when he got a real job and tried to make things better for himself. What made me not like him was the fact he wanted his kids off TV, but yet he used them to sell stories to hurt their Mother and them. He also chose to walk away with no cs for his own kids, deadbeat Father's are the lowest.

I'm sure Kate has no gag order on anything, she has just moved on, doesn't care what people say or do, even Jon. I would worry about another "new" women Jon has exposed his kids to, she looks old enough to be his Mother.

Hope the twins had a great birthday, just let them make up stories over there, she has nothing to talk about as nothing was posted.

I posted a comment (well, I tried to) about the hypocrisy of that it's okay ('sweet', I think everyone said) for Jon to post a pic, yet if Kate had done the same she would have been vilified.
The admin over there didn't post my comment, just 1 part to 'correct' me.

And yes, if Kate had been the one to post a pic of her and the girls like Jon did, yes, they would have gone after her like stink on s****.
(for the record, I didn't look at the pic Jon tweeted, or whatever social media he chose to use).
I also don't understand the need for everyone to post congratulatory wishes on social media. Want to tell them happy birthday? CALL THEM. Or better yet, TELL THEM when you enforce your birthday visitation hours.

I think Kate has exploited her kids since before birth, but I will give her credit for agreeing to the twins' wish that no pictures were to be posted. I hope that she continues to honor any of the kid's wishes, be it social media or filming. They've worked enough.

Is that the best you got? When I strike a nerve it's okay to play grammar police?

Admit it, if Kate had posted a pic, an old or current one, it would have been attributed to exploitation.
Jon does it and it's okay. Why doesn't he just call them and tell them happy birthday? Or see them on his birthday visitation hours?

Ah ha, are you the culprit? A week or so ago I stated that people from here go to 15 Min, make a comment then come back here to talk about it. People here denied it (selective reading?) but I've seen it before and decided to wait until I saw it again instead of going searching and behold. No use denying it. And this isn't a first.

lollipop said...

FYI,

I am not a regular Sage poster. I have followed 15 for a long time and only recently found this one.

I am not sure what you are implying by 'culprit'??

I call out both Gosselin parents when they need it. I feel that both have used their kids for profit.
It amazes me that the other blog thinks Jon can do wrong, when I feel that his posting a pic of him (I was corrected on my pronoun, lol) and the girls was exploitive. They all thought it was 'sweet'. I didn't think it was sweet at all. He had no reason to put that pic out there, none whatesoever.

I am glad that Kate didn't, since she said the twins asked her not to.

I have NEVER posted over there only to come back to this blog and talk about it. I was hoping that someone would agree with me on the 'other' blog. Instead the admin didn't post my full comment, only took one sentence from it and gave her opinion. Someone else corrected my grammar. :)

Former 15 poster said...

I've said before I'm no Kate fan. I also happen to think Jon's not much of a winner either. But one way I do disagree with a lot of you is that Kate started all the bad mouthing of Jon after the divorce when she had access to all kinds of interviews. She did it over and over again. I'm not saying Jon didn't get his digs in, but Kate's were much more public and I think Jon's were in response to hers. Truly I believe there are so few left who give a crap about them compared to the way it once was. They both made tons of mistakes, and the kids have suffered as a result. I am no child advocate as Becky claims to be. These kids have had more material goods than most kids. Only time will tell how their future will be affected by all this.

Former 15 poster said...

I will say this, in the earliest of the shows when Kate was home alone with the 2 year old tups and the twins while Jon worked, I felt for her. I cannot imagine 6 toddlers at the same time. On the show when she was trying to hire a helper, she was sitting at that table and the kids were clinging to her, crying and she just closed her eyes and looked totally overwhelmed. However, once the money started coming in she changed and her controlling instincts came into view. On one side, I see the need for control with so much chaos, on the other there is NEVER a good enough reason to throw a 2 year old in the bed by his hair. Another thing, when she put Aaden on the laundry room floor when they were all sick, I thought how warm and nice smelling it was for him in there because I doubt she laid him directly on the hard floor. As far as being upset about having to wash all the bedding because of barfing, OMG who wouldn't want to take a flying leap over all that! I never felt I had the right to tell her how to raise her own children. But she did put a lot of things out there that brought a lot of things out that shouldn't have been for public view. One was the poop they showed in one of the potties and the other big one was constipated Collin being forced to go shopping while in pain. But that's on both of them.

Sage said...

The way I look at it is....as young mothers we all did things we wish we hadn't said or did with our kids. Kate's mistakes were filmed. I know, her choice, but who would have thought that almost 10 years later they still would be dissected on blogs.

Sage said...

I wish someone would ask Tuck how she knows this for sure...because she doesn't. They just make shit up as they go along.
//////////////////////////////////////////

Tucker's Mom has left a new comment on the post "McCaughey septuplets begin senior year of high sch...":

But if she is telling them that if they want cars, designer this and that like the other kids have, then they need to bite the bullet and film because she's not paying for those things, and that their dead-beat dad isn't contributing to their support. I can just see her holding that over them and saying that ¨you choose," knowing full well that these kids feel that they are entitled and they will have to go along with filming because it brings in the money.
*****
I have no doubt this is the case. When they were younger, Kate told them they'd lose the house and school, and now that they know that's b.s., the kids can leverage bigger, better goodies.

What in the world? The Carlene sheeple is in Florida. How would she know that we are having bad weather (severe thunderstorm warning) unless she has taken over Milo's job and put text alerts into her phone for bad weather in Berks County?

Yes, Carlene. It was a thunderstorm. Just your garden variety storm with rain. Nothing to be in panic about and nothing through which Kate couldn't drive home from the bus stop! No tornadoes, no hurricanes, no tropical storms.

Why didn't she remind her to take Shoka inside?

Thank you for not skewering me concerning my earlier comment. :)
It's refreshing to be able to have a differing viewpoint and not get crucified!

Geez, the other blog, if you don't hate Kate as much as you love Jon you get the grammar police and Tucker's Mom's wrath. Who appointed her second banana??

I do know that the comments over there are posted per admin approval (unlike this one that lets comments go through automatically). I am amazed that she lets the posts that attack other posters go through, since that is one of HER rules.

I made a comment saying it was terrible that Jon posted a pic of the girls, there was some other thoughts too, but 1) she didn't post my comment, and 2)she copied and pasted 1 sentence of my comment and let me have it.

That blog at one time had a friendly repartee, it's no longer the rule. Posters over there go after one another. It's ridiculous.

Anyway, thanks for letting me post here. We all have our reasons for following this family. I hold Jon and Kate to the same level of accountability. Neither is perfect, but I do believe that they use their kids to profit their own bank accounts.
Whatever paltry amount Jon earns, he needs to pay child support. If Kate did indeed absolve him of paying, that's a head scratcher. Maybe once his finances improved (if they have, idk) he should start paying, even if it's a nominal amount. It's what a responsible parent does. I don't care what Kate has. He needs to pay his part.

Sage said...

I do believe Kate made a deal with Jon to benefit Jon and get him out of back c/s and to benefit her and the kids more to keep him out of throwing roadblocks with everything they do.

It really shows who Jon is more concerned about...himself.

Becks lets through the attacks against other posters that she does not like.

PJ's momma said...

lollipop, I agree with you. Jon should pay something - they are HIS children too. He should WANT to pay. I don't know if there's any verification that he was absolved of child support and I hope it's not true. Those 8 little lives are his responsibility too. Legally, physically, emotionally, and financially, they are his responsibility as much as Kate's.

Sage said...

Not anymore, PJm. Jon has admitted that he gave up legal and physical to Kate. I don't believe he ever was there for them emotionally.

PJ's momma said...

How sad. I did think he was more hands on and seemed to enjoy the kids more than their mom did/does. They had a lot of fun together. I stopped watching after that birthday party when he asked one of the girls if she missed him. How confused they must have been. He is still responsible for them in all those ways - morally. Maybe not legally, but morally. In my opinion, because they are and always will be his children too.

Ciao for now, off to a concert before I get accused of being on here allll day again!

Someone seems to be having her posters jump ship, she will have to read here for the scoop Sage. :)

When the 6 were babies, Jon played with them as I think he thought they would be little forever and he could goof off all day with them while filming. Kate was the one cooking the meals, laundry, grocery shopping and tons of other things to keep the household running. I'm sure their days were stressful, but that gave Jon no excuse to leave and re-live his 20's because he was too tired to film. The public saw his actions, just like Kate's.

If people think raising 8 kids with no cs support or help from their Father, try it. The kids film a little now, it's not days and days, and if they want something special, maybe they have it. Who cares?? I'm just glad Jon has dropped his old friends who used him for lies.

Enjoy your concert PJ. :)

Kate's the one who insisted on having "just one more" knowing the chances of having another set of multiples was a big risk, knowing their religious convctions would prevent they from selective reduction, knowing that financially they couldn't afford any more children. But she whined and cried and laid on the couch depressed and made the rest of the family miserable.
Yes, Kate stayed home and cooked and cleaned and kept the household running. That's what stay at home moms do. It was her choice all along. Jon had to work-DUH, but after a full day's work he bathed the six and got them ready for bed. His weekends were spent cleaning the garage, building shelves, painting bedrooms, adding more shelves, putting beds together, babysitting while she casually browsed brochures in the furniture store, taking care of Collins impacted bowels, or putting up with her embarrassing him in stores screeching out his name asking why he wasn't helping when she'd demanded he take the kids and stand by the exit, dressing the six, making sure they had the proper hair clips (play clips vs dressy clips and heaven forbid he chose the wrong ones!).

At least Jon played with the kids, the few times he could escape from her mile-long list of chores. And he had to put up with her screaming out his name throughout the neighborhood if he put on a pair of roller blades or took the kids for a ride down the block. Kate never played with the kids, she put them down for 3 and 4 hour "naps" with the DVD playing videos of their show. She stressed over ice cream and grass stains on clothing, colored marker stains--yet it was Kate's whining insistence on having just one more that brought all the chaos and piles of laundry and everything else that went along with caring for a big family.

And then when Kate had the opportunity to escape (and not on roller blades for 10 minutes), off she went with her married bodyguard on book signing tours, told Jon he'd have to quit his job to be the stay at home dad while she was planning to be gone a week, home a week, and when she was gone NO phone calls unless it was an emergency. When Jon told her he didn't like staying home all day she told her to "take a class or something."

Sage said...

Not So....

Poor hapless Jon. Kate made him be a husband, partner, and a father....a man. This was obviously too much for him and he exited to be a male whore jumping from one bed to another, one 'relationship' to another, one place to couch flop to another, one job to another. Jon is now staring down 40 with no home for his kids to visit, no stability, no accountability no respect and no self-respect.

It's truly amazing how the bleeple have rewritten history, isn't it?
Jon has had almost seven years to relive this 20's. That excuse is getting old.
The fact of the matter is that he's a lazy, deadbeat dad. Being a DJ a few nights a week doesn't negate that. It just makes him MORE unavailable for his kids.

Jon made a lot of tabloid money off of his divorce. Jon went on every tabloid show there was. Hailey was often with him and he talked about how he loved Hailey more than he had ever loved Kate. He made friends and hung with several paparazzi. Jon did a news interview with Cuomo where he said he despised Kate. Both Jon and Kate did interviews with Larry King. The video of the dogs leaving that Jon did was absolutely disgusting.

I disagreed with Kate when she did the interview after Jon stole from the account. But it was Jon lying about texts and having a hissy when Kate wanted to split time on the twins' birthday. It was Jon who sold the hoopla to ET. I thought it was so sad for the twins. He got torn apart by Nancy Grace when he filed for custody after being out of state for months.

The night that Kate appeared in the opening of the Emmy's, Jon was doing an interview with Rabbi Shmuley badmouthing Kate. Jon really likes any attention and doesn't like responsibility. He likes his money to come easy. He wastes his money and he's willing to go after Kate in very cruel ways with no thought to his children. He was a hot whining angry jealous mess on CT. All he talked about was Kate. In all that time, he had not changed. It's very sad for his children. I think it's understandable that some of them do not want to be that involved with their father.

Farkle said...

Did I get my behind ripped? LOL. You replied to my post with no name, so man up or women up and post a name! I see no name who thinks Jon did it all, waaaa, he still will never be a real Father to his kids. Heck, real Dad's do extra for their kids everyday, helping in the home, baths, laundry, cooking, picking up a few groceries after work. Single Mom's and Dad's have to do it all, so before saying Jon did it all, run a household of 8 kids. Jon loved the attention he could get, the potty training in the driveway was blamed on Kate, but it was Jon and his BIL ? who set the potties out there. Re-writing and trying to paint Jon in a better light after all these years is just a huge fail. He still is barely working, moved in with another gf, couches are the most important to him when they are free.

Sage said...

I never understood why they sainted Jon for giving the kids baths. I was a stay at home mom when my kids were little...I only had two but it was a lot of work. Their dad used to give them baths/play with them at night after working all day to spend some time with them and it allowed me to clean up the kitchen after dinner undisturbed. I never sainted him for it...it is called working together and being parents.

Farkle said...

Jon didn't like to stay home with his kids because he wanted to run and party. Kate did travel, and I would have been worried sick leaving my kids with a bum like Jon while I tried to make money for the family. Jon selling stories along with Jodi and Kevin was my last straw for me. That is nothing but a low life parent, and guess what, he still is. Almost 40? and he still can't hold a real job with benefits. His family must be so proud of the fact he gets the most press when he pees in someone's driveway.

Farkle said...

Amen Sage, real Dad's just pitch in and help. If I had to ask my hubs for help doing everything, I would come unglued. Parenting is both parents responsibility, it comes natural in what has to be done for children. Men can see things that need to be done, it happens everyday across America, and lots of Dad's enjoy the play time and reading stories to their kids at bedtime.

Sage said...

I remember the incident where Jon roller bladed down the streets and left his kids behind when they wanted to be with him. Kate had to yell at him to pay attention to them...unreal. That was an indicator of who Jon really is...only thinks of himself.

Not So said...

Listening to all this talk about Jon, Kate really married a loser and then had eight kids with him. LOL

Or was he a really great guy when she married him and it was after being completely emasculated, nagged and belittled on national TV for years that he went nuts when he finally got away?

Sage said...

Not So,

Kate married a loser. You all keep saying how young Jon was when he married Kate...guess what? Kate was young too. Jon was, then, good looking and charming. When they had kids and the rubber met the road Kate grew up and Jon remained a child and still is today.

Jon went nuts when he finally got away? Please, they divorced 6 years ago. I can see a few months of finding yourself, but 6 years! By the way he has behaved the past few years he has regressed not progressed. Jon is a Peter Pan and has no responsibilities. The guy is almost 40 and lives in someone elses house while he pursues another 'life dream' of being a DJ. he should thank Kate for being able to handle money to provide the basics of a home, clothes, and an education and being there for THEIR kids. Please don't say the kids work for it...Kate could have frittered it all away and they could be living in a 3 bedroom rental. Say what you want about Kate and her cars and manicures...the kids do not go without. Not without the basic material things we all need and a parent who is THERE.

Sage said...

I also have to add that I think Jon lost interest in Kate. We have seen him since the divorce claim every girl/woman he has been with is the love of his life....same thing with Kate.

We have seen the wedding photos and honeymoon video...Kate was a beautiful bouncy blonde girl. After having the kids she looked matronly and Jon lost interest. I remember one of the couch interviews they gave in one of the first specials and he made a remark about liking her better as a blonde and she responded he should have looked at the roots. That sort of bothered me then and this was before all the other stuff came out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jon wasn't stepping out on her then. When they came into some serious money with the show that was his ticket out for good.

When the haters say Kate got her claws in Jon because he was a doctors son...what a bunch of hogwash. Kate was working as a nurse at the time and it would have made more sense, if that was her intent, to go after the doctor. Not some dentist son who I think was working at a dead end job at the time with no formal training in anything. I also, remember Jon saying in an interview that his dad liked Kate because she had goals. I think Jon's dad knew what a lazy dreamer Jon was.

Farkle said...

Not So,

Yep, Kate had to tell Jon to grow up, what a shame, he was suppose to be the man of the house. Jon's family got short changed when he was born. His Dad praised Kate, hmmm, never spoke of his son that way. I would have yelled at my house if he was that lazy, didn't want to work, and ran around. When they went on a trip anywhere, Kate packed everything, and Jon complained about loading the van. If Jon is such a prize why has no other women married him? He uses women and he uses his children to sell a story when he needs a few bucks.

PJ's momma said...

You know, I always found the claims that Jon had claws 'got' in him as sort of funny. He LEFT another girl - he went willingly. The other girl was probably hurt, maybe badly, but he is the one who left her. It's not like someone had a gun to his head. People talk about how Kate left her old fiance, and how horrible she was for doing it (amid claims that she was a gold digger) but nobody talks about how Jon left his girlfriend too, because people focus on how Kate said the girl was gone the next day or something like that. They BOTH dumped other people. Be fair.

And yes, 6 years is a long time to get something out of your system.

Wow ya'll have been busy here, took me a little bit to get caught up. Welcome to the new posters. Can't believe M&C are 15!

Kate is Kate - she was very uptight in the beginning of the show, she has relaxed over the years. In my opinion she's been survival mode for many years, Jon wasn't known for keeping a job, Kate was determined to provide for her kids.

Jon played with the kids, dressed them, bathed them, fed them, ect. thats all part of being a parent

They've both said things about each other that they shouldn't have said. For awhile it did seem like Jon would always give a negative interview just about the time Kate had going on -DWTS, CA, Emmy's -. Kate has stayed quiet about a lot of things that I wouldn't have stayed quiet about.

As for the size of Kate's house, mine is just about that same size and we only have 5 people living here.

merryway said...

It's a good thing that Jon gave the baths. If he had not, he wouldn't have hardly seen the kids at all. When the kids were little, before Jon went to work for Beth's husband, Jon was gone from 7-7 Mon - Fri. Kate worked Saturdays, alternating a double shift with a regular shift. It was a busy and hectic life for both of them.

Not So said...

Interesting comments from yesterday.
So Jon was hapless, lazy, in a dead-end job, had no training, whose father was apparently disgusted with him for his laziness and who knows what else and bubbly, vivacious, attractive Kate picks HIM to have 8 kids with when she could have dated and married a young ambitious doctor or perhaps some other kind of professional with a future in the medical field? And then, then instead of being "worried sick" when leaving the kids with a "bum" like their father, who for all we know was running around on her behind her back, she goes off with her married bodyguard and says no phone calls.

Keep talking. It's interesting how he's getting worse by the minute. LOL Rewriting history? You guys are pros.

merryway said...

Jon and Kate were no different than a lot of mismatched couples who fall in love and get married. Lol, why do you keep saying "no phone calls." I guess you are referring to Kate's book tour? I believe they didn't talk during the day unless there was an emergency. They had their phone calls in the evening.

Career wise I think Jon's resume speaks for itself. In his personal life too, Jon's history speaks for itself. If you want to tie up Jon running around with young girls until he ran out of money and then being unable to pay child support because he spent all his divorce money on trips and women into a pretty red bow and say Jon is such a great guy, well, that's gross and sick, but okay.

There are women out there who think they can change a man, and I think that's what Kate thought when it came to Jon. She saw that Jon had hard working, educated and successful parents and thought that with encouragement Jon could find something that he loved to do and he would become ambitious and successful. But she was wrong. Most women who think a man will become more than he was when they met set themselves up for disappointment.

There was a time when I'm sure Kate thought that she and Jon were partners, and she could go away for business and the kids would be safe with their dad. What she didn't anticipate was Jon resenting Kate being gone for work and wanting to go out and play when she got home. It seems clear that when Jon used to work out of the house he considered that time a break from parenting more than a job to bring home an income, so when it was Kate who was out of the house, he thought she was on a long break and he wanted a break too, when she got back. That's when things really started falling apart for Jon and Kate - when Kate was out promoting her book and expected Jon to be there for his kids and take care of his kids without Kate. That's when he found out what taking care of 8 kids really meant. And I don't think he liked it.

I also, remember the no phone call conversation. Kate said it was agreed by both her and Jon that the only calls would be because of an emergency...otherwise all the kids, who were very young at the time, wanted to talk to her and would argue.

Not So...you not only here what you want you also read what you want. lol

Nailed it, Micha. Jon's actions shows what he is. He gave up any legal say in his kids lives so he would not have to pay child support....that in and of itself says it all.

Not So said...

Oh, Sage, I'm sure Jon just agreed with Kate to shut her up. She recently explained how she manages to get her way. Didn't you commit that episode to memory like all the rest? LOL Jon learned early on that Kate was in control and that was never going to change. There was no point in arguing about phone calls. Kate had made up her mind. Surely you gleaned that after watching for all those years. It's Kate's way or the highway.

Not So said...

Hey Micha, you guys have convinced me. Jon is a bum, lazy has no ambition and can't keep a job. Always was, always will be. The big question now is why did Kate chose him over all the other men she met? And why would she want to bring multiple children into the world to be fathered by such an obvious loser?

Nameless in LA said...

Hey Not So, you've convinced me that Kate is one of the most horribly abusive mothers on the planet. Always was, always will be. The big question now is why did Jon choose to give up legal and physical custody of his eight children to such a person? I'm all ears...

Re: the phone calls. This is how haters twist things. That was one episode talking about the situation then. In another episode, Kate is away for a few days and Jon is Mr. Mom. One of the little girls gets a cut on her temple and Jon is the one deciding not to call Kate right away. Then, he's peeved because Kate called in the morning because she was missing the kids. Jon was irked because he was trying to get the kids out the door for school. The haters twist these things and try to make the most benign situations into something hugely significant.

That was the episode that Jon had the kids make a video for their mom telling her how much they loved her. I think that was one of my favorite episodes with one of the girls standing up on a stool behind Jon's back after just being told to get down.

Not very original of you Nameless. I asked first. LOL Why DID Kate chose the biggest loser on the planet to marry and then proceed to get fertility treatments not once but twice with such a bum?

Quiltart said...

IMO, Jon didn't show his true colors until after they had eight little ones to care for and he became the ninth child.

Nameless in LA said...

In other words, you can't answer the question.

Lots of women (and men) marry people they think will change over time. Maybe she saw many qualities she liked and some she didn't and attributed the negatives to being young. Or, as Quiltart said, perhaps the depth of his irresponsibility didn't come to light until there were eight children in the picture. I have no idea, since I'm not Kate and make no claims to have great insight into their marriage. You, on the other hand, seem to consider yourself the foremost authority on Jon and Kate's marriage, so surely you can answer my question.

Not So said...

Ah, Quiltart, that must be it, Jon bamboozled Kate, kept his lazy, bummishness to himself for the first 7 or 8 years of the marriage and Kate never caught on. Yep, that's it.

And Nameless, I could say the same about you couldn't I? You can't answer my question. And I did ask first. LOL

Not So said...

Oh, i see your answer now. I apologize about that. Was laughing so hard over Quiltart's reply that Jon just fooled Kate for several years.

I have no idea, since I'm not Jon and make no claims to have great insight into their custody arrangement with the PA court.

Nameless in LA said...

Unlike you, I actually attempted to answer your question. Why, I don't know, since it's quite obvious that you are not here to engage in genuine dialogue. You will never answer my question because there is no explanation you can offer that will make Jon look anything other than terrible unless you are willing to admit that perhaps Kate is just another flawed human being and not the devil incarnate. You have boxed yourself into a corner with your extreme point of view.

What is really funny is that Jon seems to be fooling all of you who admire and defend him.

Not So said...

Sage, I wouldn't go so far as saying I admire Jon. I do defend him because I believe he married a conniving shrew who, after she got a taste of "celebrity" became greedy and wanted the show and the money and the "fame" more than she wanted her marriage. I also felt sorry for him for having to endure the constant put-downs and the way she belittled him on national TV and how he was treated by TLC when he tried to stop the filming during the divorce.

And I can just as easily say Kate seems to be fooling all of you who admire and defend her, right? In fact she's actively doing that each time she gets on Twitter to all her "Tweeties" saying how much she misses them. She needs try and get those ratings back up.

See, Nameless, I answered your question just like you answered mine. And as far as an extreme point of view the posters here go to hysterical extremes defending Kate.

Sage said...

Jon was sued by TLC for breaking a contract not because he wanted to stop filming the kids. Merryway, I believe has shown that on here.

I don't understand why you Jon defenders are always making him a victim of well...everybody and everything. Jon is almost 40 and has not been married to Kate for 6 years. Are all the bad decisions Jon has made in those 6 years Kate's and TLC's fault?

I do not agree with everything Kate has said or done...but I do not feel she is a victim of Jon for saying and doing it.

There comes a time when one is responsible for ones own actions and words...its called being an adult.By constantly making excuses for Jon's behavior you Jon defenders send out a message that he is diminished intellectually and morally. Is that really the type of 'man' you admire?

Nameless in LA said...

Exactly, Sage. There is no indication that Jon actually has an intellectual disability, and yet his defenders make it sound as if he has the mental capacity of a 10 year-old. Poor wittle Jon Gosselin, the perpetual victim.

Like you, I don't always agree with Kate. Far from it, in fact. However, she seems by far the more responsible parent based on what we can see as outsiders to the situation. I'm sure Jon loves his children, just as Kate does. But...being "fun dad" and being a responsible parent are not one and the same. Jon fulfills the first role and fails miserably at the second.

Quiltart said...

TLC sued Jon because, in addition to not filming, Jon was participating in activities that were specifically not allowed per his contract. He has flip-flopped on whether or not filming is good for his kids, depending upon who he is talking to. His law suit had nothing to do with him doing what was best for his kids. It was all about him doing whatever he wanted to do himself with the new Lohan-type friends he was hanging with.

In no way did I say Kate was bamboozled by Jon. People change. Situations change. The only person in the hater's world who is not allowed to change is Kate. They hold her accountable for every real and mostly every imagined word she has ever spoken.

Sage said...

By their logic because Kate yelled at Jon in Toys R Us ten years ago it is why he goes on Couples Therapy...masturbates for the camera and trash talks Kate the entire time...altho he is there with trashy girlfriend number...what 7? the love of his then life who he gives a promise ring to. After of course buying a sex toy for another participant. Can't make this disaster that is Jon up.

Wow, see we are rehashing J and K's marriage from 6 years ago. Whew, better not miss a day reading here gals. LOL. I almost feel her breathing here, her blog must be boring.

Happy Thanksgiving to our friends in Canada!

Nice to see you stxmom! My house is big to, I say live where you want to!

Sage,

CT was disgusting, he was doing the nasty, yelling at Kate on the phone ( I think that was all fake) and Liz looked like she needed a shower. They sat around and drank and smoked the whole time. I do feel sorry for kids, that is out there forever, but Jon did the show for money and to dig at Kate. People realize now except for a couple on a hate blog and a few on twitter that don't matter to anyone knows the real Jon. Kate is not perfect, but I am so glad she is there for the kids, can you imagine if they had to live with Jon?

Off to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch, some little ones here think they need to go. :) Have a great day everyone!
